UMK-10 Root washer

The UMK-10 Root washer is designed for highly productive and efficient washing of the produce (potatoes, carrots, beetroots).

Principle of operation:

The produce is fed into a washing rotating drum most of which is immersed in a water-filled tank. Stainless steel blades are mounted in the drum at a specific angle advancing the produce during the washing process toward the unloading conveyor. Additional nozzles are mounted on the unloading conveyor to wash the output produce with clean water. The vegetable washer is equipped with a water level sensor allowing the water to be filled, refilled and drained automatically without intervention of an operator.

In contrast to analogs in the basic configuration, our company manufactures the washer drum from food-grade stainless steel and the holes are made in it by the dimpling process, thereby not turning the washer into a machine for peeling and damaging the vegetables. The washer is equipped with a recirculation function which allows the water to be consumed economically! The drum accommodates a boom with nozzles for washing the produce with pressurized water jets. The washer is equipped with stainless steel quick-release inspection hatches. The basic configuration of the washer also comprises pneumatic valves for the programmed waste water discharge. The washer is equipped with infinitely variable drum speed control function. All washer SKF bearing units are mounted outside the working area, thereby extending their service life.

The UMK-10 Root crops washer is equipped with a separate control cabinet accommodating:

• differential circuit breaker for short-circuit current protection and current leakage prevention (Schneider Electric (France);
• Danfos frequency converter designated to protect the motor against overloads and smoothly control the drum and conveyor speed.

A two-component polyurethane paint coating (Tikkurila (Finland)) is applied at the plant.
